The crowd struggled to understand how the Christ could abide forever and yet be lifted up. Their question reveals the mystery of the cross: the eternal King would reign through suffering, death, and resurrection. Jesus did not fit their expectations, but He fulfilled God’s promise. When His ways confuse us, we are invited to look higher and trust the wisdom of the crucified and risen Son of man.
